Ani Khodaverdian is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 153430) who works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. At Anger Management 818, Ani facilitates anger management classes in Glendale and Pasadena. Ani uses the Anger Management Essentials model when facilitating anger management classes, working with court-ordered anger management, probation-ordered, work-ordered, and voluntary participants. In addition to weekly classes in English, Ani offers anger management classes in Armenian, providing Armenian-speaking participants with a culturally responsive environment to better understand their anger, recognize patterns that contribute to reactivity, and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding to conflict.
Ani approaches anger with curiosity rather than judgment. She helps participants explore what may be underneath anger while developing practical skills for emotional regulation, communication, self-awareness, and conflict resolution. Her style is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based, with an emphasis on helping individuals take greater responsibility for their responses while building the skills needed to create meaningful, lasting change.
Cultural identity is an important part of Ani’s work. Born in Sweden to Armenian parents from Iran and later immigrating to the United States, Ani has a personal understanding of navigating multiple cultures, family expectations, intergenerational dynamics, and different ways of expressing emotion. As an Armenian-speaking therapist, Ani is particularly passionate about making anger management education more accessible to the Armenian community and creating a space where cultural and family dynamics can be understood within the context of emotional regulation and communication. She is also a Swedish-speaking therapist who supports her community. Ani is passionate about helping teens and their families, offering anger management for teens.
Ani earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. Prior to becoming a therapist, she earned her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School and practiced law, including human rights work in Armenia. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a Minor in Armenian Studies from UCLA. Ani is supervised by Chrysoula Gkotsi, LMFT 113638.
